Kane County’s Recycling Program is hosting a free confidential document shredding event between 8 a.m. and noon Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Kane County Branch Court office, 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles.

We look forward to seeing you!

There is one entry point for the event. It is the driveway immediately south of the Circuit Clerk’s building.

Kane County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will direct traffic into the site from both the north and southbound directions.

Note that OEM will need to close the left turn lane to southbound traffic if lines to enter become too long. If this happens, southbound event traffic will need to drive by and turn around to approach traveling north.

There are two exits for the event, both the north and south driveways. If you only have paint and nothing for shredding, please leave the line through the north exit after dropping off. Attendees who have documents shredded will be directed to turn either left or right to the north or south exits.

For the event, traffic leaving the event will only be able to turn right (northbound) onto Randall Road.

If you need to travel south, take a left turn on Main Street (IL Route. 64), a slight left on Campton Hills Road, a left on Peck Road, a left on Lincoln Highway (IL Route 38), and finally a right onto Randall Road.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

We ask that event patrons NOT to cut through the adjacent business parking lot south of the event space to get to the traffic light at Prairie and Randall. This causes problems for these small businesses and their patrons and puts the continuation of our events in jeopardy.

Volunteers will dump your boxes of confidential documents into hoppers with other attendees’ documents. When the hoppers are full, the lifts will be activated and each hopper load dumped into the shredder where documents are shredded into confetti sized pieces.

You may not stay in place to watch your documents be shredded. If you need to see the hopper containing your material be lifted, please pull off into the marked observation zones.

The portable toilet is provided for use by event volunteers and patrons. We ask that if drivers in line for shredding allow any cars that have pulled off over use the Pit Stop back into line.
